I have an auto 1986 Fiero with Cassette Deck. The Radio Works but the Cassette "ejects" the Tape from the Player. Any help would be appreciated? It did work recent but now just ejecting after a few seconds.

does it with every tape? when did you last clean the heads? how about the belt? you really need to take the player out and see what's going on inside? alsoo i remember having a tape player that wouldn't play 90 min. tapes.

The tape deck is relatively simple compared to a lot of things on the Fiero. Some cassette decks have a solenoid that kicks out (ejects) the tape when the capstan doesn't turn and I suspect that is what is happening with your deck. Since I haven't actually looked inside a Fiero cassette player, I can only give general info but I have worked on literally hundreds of factory and after market radio cassettes. I suspect the belt is stretched or broken. My 1988 Buick radio looks very similar to the Fiero radio and my cassette deck came out very easily, I replaced the belt and it works like a new one.
I am fairly certain your deck is auto reverse so with the radio turned down and the ignition in "ACC," insert a tape and listen for a mechanical sound as the mechanism attempts to reverse and if it can't, then the auto eject circuit kicks out the cassette. If the cassette doesn't seat immediately, then it is a mechanical latch inside that is the problem.
Hope this helps and don't be afraid to dig into it. Just take your time and give it a try. When I replace my radio with one I recently bought, I will dig into the Fiero radio and if you can wait that long, I can definitely help with photographs.

I have the same problem with mine using a cassette adapter for a cd-player or iPod...strangely, a regular (real) cassette works just fine. I already replaced my belt with a new one.
Does it still do it if you reverse the direction on the cassette player, or turn the adapter over? Some adapters are designed oddly and can get stuck turning one way, which would cause the eject.
Some of the new cheap adapters just don't work. I tried a Dynex in a few cassette decks I have (the Fiero's original, an Eclipse 4502, and a Nakamichi BX-300), and just would not work. A belkin lasted about 3 hours into a road trip, and just died. Switched to a Sony adapter from the mid 90's, been working perfectly for years.
Could also try cleaning the capstans and heads with Q-tips and denatured alcohol.

www.replacementradios.com does many repairs on car radios. He repaired my 98 GP am-fm/cd radio that is in my 88 GT for not much. He also sells refurbished radios.
I've also seen recently on eBay, a few 82-92 GM stereos that have been modified to have an AUX port in the face. I don't remember how much they were, but it's just a 3.5mm jack wired straight to the stereo's amp. It might be an option for anyone looking for something like that. I don't know how reliable or expensive they are at the moment. I don't think they are too expensive, though.

I tried Auto Reverse and using a regular Cassette Tape. The Problems still exists. Hmmm. The Tape after a few seconds goes from oe side (like rewind) to the other side (fastforward) then ejects. Process happens within several seconds.
Any help please let me know. Any diagrams or Videos on Replacing Radio Belt?
Where I Buy Belts?
Thanks!

The belts are $15.00 at Fierostore plus their rip off shipping or you can get one of these and use it with your Ipod for $14.00 shipped. Make sure to see the video mid page. I have used one of these for years and they work flawlessly: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-USB...&hash=item5635fb0f4e
