you need to give the balancer the crank one rod and one piston (so he can make bob weights to represent the rotating mass on the crankshaft) and the harmonic balancer so he can balance it as a unit you can not rebalance a flywheel with out these parts

Look i know it can be done without removing my crankshaft. The flexplate is already counter balanced i just need to find someone to translate that to the flywheel. I think if i can bolt the flexplate 180 degrees off to the flywheel and then ballance it it would be accurate but i'm not sure exactly how to do it.

your 180 degree off method is exactly what the machine shop said they did with mine when I had them balance my camaro flywheel to the flexplate imbalance.

Ditto- my custom 3.8 flywheel was match balanced the same way by ACA Performance in Newark DE. Having said that, I am still building the engine so I can not swear to the accuracy yet but it is a common practice apparently.

yes it can be done but will not be 100 persent perfect flexplates can be out of balance quit a bit as rthe fuid converter will take up the differance a fly wheel and clutch will not

WCF
This flywheel is used in the Camaro and Firebird. It has been re-machined to fit the 3800 Fiero conversions. This flywheel weighs 22 pounds prior to machining. We remove 6 pounds of material from the facing to enable the clutch to fit properly into the Fiero transmission.

The bolt pattern on the flywheel and the crankshaft bolt pattern is for the Series II normally aspirated engines. The Flywheel has been check-balanced to the stock specifications.

For the Series II supercharged engines, the Flywheel has been check-balanced to the stock specifications.

Just take your flywheel along with 3800 flexplate to a shop to have it balanced..no reason to take the rest....Really no reason to have it balanced at all being there are tons of 3800 swaps with unbalanced flywheels that have been on the road for many miles with no failures....
