Well... I tend to buy non-fiero products and "tweak" them a bit.
I bought a set of four of these fender flares (they were universal fit - but I think they were made for the Dodge Stealth). I got the four for about $85. They were a stock fit - I just adhered them to the car and added a wee bit of putty.
The front "eyelids" were also purchased on ebay for about $15 for the pair (made for Honda's). Again, stock fit.

Yeah, you just paint it black basecoat and cover it with clear with 'flattening agent' added. Less you add to the clear the shinier it is. I do flat hoods all the time, only take like a teaspoon full in a a gunfull of clear to get a nice semi-gloss / matt finish. You have to be careful though not to rub a lot on it with wax or you will bring up the gloss. Ive found that Turtle Wax Ice liquid polish works great on the clear matt finish just for your info. Other waxes may leave a white residue in it that wont come out. In the old days of the original flat black hoods and stripes, you had to mask them off to wax your car or it ruined the flat finish and had to be repainted.

I'm curious about the price too... I've got an S10 that is slightly rusty and Desert Tan. (Former municipal vehicle) I'd love to paint it that color, always have loved flat black.

I love the look of a black car, but it's just not a color that I am capable of properly taking care of. This looks very good and might be a version of black that I could be able to keep nice. Thanks for posting!

How much did that paint job cost you, if you don't mind??
I think it looks great. As a body man I think it looks like new body panels in factory e-coat. I always liked the way a car would look when I replaced a whole front clip with new parts and they would all be semi-gloss black.

Maaco stripped the car down to the fiberglass, then primed, and then sanded. Then they shot the base coat - then the clear coat. Then it was baked in the oven. Took them 4 days. Cost $868.00.
The front fender flares (eyelids) I bought off of ebay ($15 pr.). They are universal stick-on flares for honda's.. but I just loosened the wheel well, and slipped them in between the underside of the fender and the wheel well. Stock looking fit, and helps to loose the wheel well gap.... since the car has not been lowered.
Thanks for the tips on how to care for this finish. Still a little nervous.. but I've found that a low-gloss black auto paint matches pretty close - so I have a way to fill in road-chips on the front spoiler.

Looks really good, and i normally don't like black fieros to me its visually boring. I think what makes that color work is the flares gives it dare i say a kind of mustang look.
The first few people to do the flat black professionally as a styling idea were brilliant. Lately, the whole flat/matte thing is too played out imo. Car looks great otherwise but I'm not a fan of the flat/matte (anymore). Also those taillights???

Looks pretty cool though, I had an idea for wheel arch flares a while back too. Wonder what it would look like with a side scoop incorporated into it

I used the other pair as a test template... and I cut em' up during pre-fitting. I actually installed them on the front at one time- but did not like the look.
