show off your aux gauges you have installed or the ones you have replaced with from your old ones now working. ive seen bubujuju's in his car. he replaced his aux gauges that werent working with 3 sunpro's. oil, volts, and boost. ive seen some gauge pillar ones and even some pillar ones modded to fit the door.
i want to replace my aux ones with oil press, volts, and my autometer AFR then the AEM UEGO later. and for the pillar get a fuel pressure and i want to figure what to do about seeing my underdecklid engine bay temps.
im wanting to do the Autometer ES series. full sweep. and i think they are the closest lighting match to the fiero factory color.
im of course still on the search for another look. but i really like the look of these. i just wish they had a full sweep bulb test upon startup.
Mounting three after market gauges in the aux pod is easy just cut a piece of steel to match and drill three holes in it and wire in the gauges. Pillar post gauges are also very easy to do, I have used the pillar mounting piece from the Fiero store a few times now with no problems. On my Fiero I have now I mounted a 1989 Nissan 240SX dash and found the Fiero aux gauges fit nicely in the center heater vent in the dash, a boost and an air fuel ration gauge in a pillar pod and am using a gauge pod from a 95 Sunfire for the speedo and other gauges. how do you fell about the quality of those glowshift? can u set them to stay at amber?
Quality seems pretty solid for the price. You can set them to stay at whatever colour you want so you dont have to reset it everytime you start the car. You just need to connect the wire for the constant power so it keeps it in memory.
I really like what you did with the center console! I did a quick search to see if I could find if you did a build thread on it, but I didn't spot one. Did you do a thread, and can you post the link?

i looked at those defi gauges. theyre not stand alone. i gotta dish out more $$ for the controller. and the gauges are $$$$$. so not gonna get that one. im going to go for autometer ES series. those match the fiero gauges better.
Just wanted to have the gauges looking as neat and inconspicuous as possible. Mounted three Autometer Black 2" gauge cups to the left of the console. Top is fuel pressure gauge, center is vacuum/boost gauge, bottom is air fuel gauge. All are electronic.

I decided to go with the aluminum 3-hole plate that always on sale on e-bay. I liked it since its 1/4" thick...that allowed for the mounting screw holes to be countersunk so you can use the stock screws. I went with the Glow Shift due to price, but I do not like them and as soon as I build up my Fun Funds, I plan to change them out with more standard Autometer gauges.
Here's what they look like during the day, set on red (I think there's like 7 colors you can change it to).
Here's what they look like at night. Real close to the stock gauges....perhaps the ONLY thing nice about this brand.
The reasons I don't like the Glow Shift:
1. In order to maintain the chosen color once set (when the engine is off), the current draw is very high. If you go to the Glow Shift website, there's a forum with some explanations on it. If you don't drive your car every day (like my Mera), the current is high enough to drain your battery within a few days or a week. I took the suggestion off the Glow Shift forum and soldered the constant hot wires to the key-on hot wire. That means everytime I kill the engine and then re-start it, I have to reset each gauge to red, or whatever color I want it.
2. The gauges fit but are pretty long, so the mounting bracket will not clear the inside area of the gauge housing. I ended up having to cut each gauge bracket in half, and just use one of them on the top of each gauge in the back of the plate.
3. The Glow Shift gauges have a curved, plastic lens. You get what you pay for. They are really made to have the gauge aimed directly back at the driver's head. When mounted straight-on in the aux gauge housing, the view is slightly distorted/obscured from the driver's seat. For me to get an accurate view of the gauges, I have to literally shift my body and head towards the center console. Even old-school S-W gauges would perhaps be better.
All in all, I would recommend the 3-hole aluminum plate advertised on e-bay. Its precision CNC cut, and the countersunk screw holes are very nice. I would NOT recommend Glow Shift gauges, unless perhaps being mounted in the pillar where they will be aimed directly back at the driver's head. But even then, you need to watch for that current draw.

thats a good review to go off of. thanks. i read some reviews on the prosport gauges, said not to be that accurate. that one person went through 3 boost gauges due to inaccuracy. enough for me to not be interested in them anymore. it sucks cause those autometers are pretty pricey. but at least we know their quality.
I have an autometer boost gauge, and air/fuel mixture gauge. In between them, there is a radiator fan switch, and a low washer reservoir warning lamp.
This is all mounted on a piece of 1/4" PVC plastic which replaces the stock piece, painted black Krylon wrinkle paint. The other faux aluminium interior parts were painted black wrinkle to match.
I don't have any experience with glowshifts, but my autometer boost gauge reads about a psi too high, which is no big deal anyway, as a gauge is more useful to observe trends, than to know an exact value.
