Hello, I recently bought a rebuilt 327 (.040 over). Anyways I want to test her out before I set her up in the Fiero.

Basically, I know very little about engines ( compared to you guys at least). The engine is sitting on a stand complete carb - pan and has not been ran for at least a year. I just need to put a flywheel on it and hook up the starter. Although the dist is MSD and has a small loom of wire(6 wires?) going from it so i'm going to assume I need to buy the MSD ignition set to hook that up to.

I don't have access to a welder, but I can build pretty decently with wood :l

Thanks!

I guess all you need to do is secure the engine somehow... If you only fire it up for a couple seconds you probably do not even need a cooling system. Although I have a fiero radiator you can have... just run lines at least its something.

Why could you not run it on the engine stand? I suppose it might not be stable enough.

As far as starting it, I dont know about the MSD. But some fuel line to the mechanical pump in a bucket of gas and 12 volts to the starter and ignition and she should fire right up.

Good luck

Make sure you prime the oil system before cranking it over. Why not get a fiero cradle and mount it there. Get it all ready. Once its running just swap cradles.
