I think I read here once that you can use the brake cleaner in a can, and it will make the carpet release so you can put new stuff there.

Getting the old carpet off is a bit of work but it's not that difficult. I used 3M Spray adhesive glue to put the new carpet on, you can find it at most auto parts stores.

Mr. Mike makes a comprehensive kit for replacing the door carpet. I just bought a set in black leather and it came with adhesive remover (starting fluid), spray glue, razor blades, and very detailed instructions. The leather arrives cut to size with some trim already sewn in where the lower meets the upper portion of the door panel to give a more finished look. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the replies.

Mr. Mike's makes beautiful stuff but may be a bit rich for this car.

Thanks

have you tried to pull the old carpet off yet? try it that may do it for ya. and you can put anything on the door, carpet, vinyl, suade(sp) just use the 3m spray glue to attach it!
you may want to pull the panel off for a better work area.
