Hey all I've done quite a bit of research on 3.4 pushrod swap. In the archives and search. I have read that you can get maybe 220 or so horse out of the engine with all the mods. But I can't find how much torque? If the engines starts out at 160 hp and 195 lbs tq . Your gaining 50 or so hp modded n/a. Do you have to trade torque to get this hp or are you gaining in both with the cam intake exhaust and compression. If the modded 3.4 is putting out the 220 horse and say 240 tq that's pretty good if that's the case! Any one know if its a trade or gain in both? Sorry long winded.

HP = TQ x RPM /5252
so if you gain HP you have to gain TQ or RPM. More HP at the same RPM means more TQ.

Well, it depends. The STOCK Fiero intake is very restrictive at the neck and it'll literally prevent you from being able to break the 200hp mark. With properly machined ported / machined heads, and a proper intake and exhaust, you could easily get plenty of power from this motor... 230-240 would not be unrealistic, but it would require a lot more than using stock parts of course... but the 3.4 short block would certainly facilitate it.

You can pretty much expect to get the same amount of torque as what comes on the 1993-1995 Camaro / Firebird with the 3.4. This would realistically be around ~200-210 foot pounds of torque.

I would say you'd probably get around 220 foot pounds of torque with your mods since it builds this power in the low to mid-range rather than in the upper RPMs. A lot depends on the cam you used though.

If you put it all together right, you should expect high 14s in the quarter I would guess... as long as it's a stick and you keep the motor in it's power band. Understanding of course... that unlike before, you can't wind out the motor because it just won't build power with the same curve as it did with the 2.8. I mean, the engines are still more or less the same, but the restriction in the intake is so significant that you would actually see a quicker quarter mile time shifting at 4,800 rpms than you would at 5,500 rpms. Sucks... I know...

I had this very same problem with my Fiero...

You haven't looked at the right threads:
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...060206-2-066575.html

3.4L with a holley 390cfm carb, auto trans.
Dyno = 197.2 RWHP and 207 ft/lbs torque at the wheels.

3.4L with Trueleo and accel 19# injectors, 5-spd getrag.
Dyno = 205.8 RWHP and 212 ft/lbs torque

Esitmated at crank of both engines = 231 hp 246 ft/lbs of torque

The auto trans Fiero went 14.2 and the manual pulled a 13.8 in the 1/4 mile.

The engines can breathe up to 6000 rpm (with a 6500 rpm redline) with the proper intake/heads/exhaust work.

Thanks for the good comments! That's some pretty good tq numbers. I think id have fun driveing a fiero built like this. I'm not really the clutch drop type! But I do like the passing ability and if I can run with a stock wrx that would be sweet. I'm sure that would take the clutch drop though!
