If the cables were binding or any sort slow shifting ,,use a light lube to help free up corrossion or dirt in cable ..
Fiero cables have a tendency to separate the ball stud from the socket ,,for the average owner it is best to raise the end of the car to assist flow of lubricant..
Only loosen or remove cable at transmission when absolutely required ,,I learn this the hard way !!
It is better to loosen the front cables under the console ,,the cables will not pull apart here ..
On the 5 speed dukes ,cut a slit in the sheath at the apex(highest point) and lube frome there ..
