Looking for a good recipe to get 300 HP to the rear wheels of a L67 with a Getrag. My cousins brags because he has 285 in a mustang, so i want to 1up him a little bit.

3.2 pulley, 1.9 rockers, power log/headers and a good tune should get you there, I went 12.5 @110 with 3.2 1.9 and pems.

Wouldnt equal out to 300... maybe like 280, but not quite 300.

You would most likely need a cam to do it... but its not a big deal to do one anymore.

NIC cam, stock everything else, and a good 3 inch exhaust would do it.... 3.0 pulley.... Might need injectors and valvesprings if you want to get some revs out of it.

You should be able to spank him with no mods.

Anything over 275HP in a car as light as a Fiero is enough for street use... My opinion, of course, but the difference in weight (Mustangs are heavy - and bloated) should be enough to put you over him.

Yeah 275 would do it but then he would have me at numbers, but i shouldn't need an intercooler to get it done right, can i run a 3" with just a cam without any spark knock.

If its like the '92 body style then its same or lighter than the fiero...we are the ones with heavy bloated cars

Sorry but I disagree with above. Lightest 92-93 fox body was 2.3 liter 4 cyl and weight 2900 ish. still 150lbs more than a fiero. 5.0 mustangs weigh 3100 -3500 lbs for gt. And I doubt he's getting the 300hp from the 2.3 liter. So your L67 adds 100lbs so either way your 50 -400 lighter more likely 250-400lbs less 5.0. unless he has weight reduction. Plus better aerodynamics and weight on the rear wheels. 280 rwhp will take him easy. 300 is nice goal though

He's got a 2000 mustang gt with the motor borred out to a 5.0 and 6 speed transmission. he's got about 15k under the hood of that thing, full forged internals, turbo ready and all that jive. It is pretty fast, a hell of a lot faster than my gt with about 180hp and an automatic.

3237 lbs 2000 mustang gt 5 speed coupe. Not sure what the 6 speed does or the mods to the weight. So if you end up 2900lbs you'll still be 337lbs under him and still have the weight in the rear takeoff advantage. If he throws that turbo on well then he could go up to 400 + horse

http://www.youtube.com/watc...ature=youtube_gdata. This guys claiming 375rwhp 2000 turbo built v6 Stang. I'm sure its dyno tested with all the mods. and running 1/4 times that many 3800sc mods guys and girls can achieve. Like high 12,s. And there doing it with quite a bit less power. Thought that is pretty interesting!

Nevermind. My comment wasn't very nice so I'm taking it back.

I'm still going to say 15k investment for 285hp... that would be my argument.

I thought they did like 240 stock?

Either way, I have yet to lose to a mustang... other than a terminator when I was stock-supercharged.

For $15k you can just drop in an LS7 and push 450hp to the ground.

For $5000 you can get a cobra motor, and put down 300, with the abiility to go turbo and put down 1000+.

It is really pointless to try to understand why said mustang owner has so much money into such a slow car... An idiot is born every second.

He's not stupid by any means, $5000 For an engine, $5000 for a 6spd transmission and high end clutch, and $5000 for installation and tuning. He's in the navy so he has more money than time, I only talked about the mustang because he's the person i'm trying to 1up with this thing, it's not a matter of how much money he has into it, its what he's got in the car. But back to the task at hand, how much HP can i make without an intercooler, I'm looking at spending under $1500. I'm not afraid of putting in a cam but i would rather not sacrafice the MPG's if i don't have to to get my 300HP mark.

For $1500 you shouldn't have a problem getting 450whp, doing the work yourself, or can drop it off down here in flint for $2k.

Yea, turbos are in stock down here, and ready to go on cars. I am making a set of manifolds next weekend, if you wanted me to make a set for you I could arrange it.
