I hate to ask something that I know I shouldn't do, but I want to know why we don't use rubber brake hose in place of the metal clutch line. I am convinced that I have a leak in my hydraulics (though I can't find it anywhere). I do not think it is the (new) MC or the (new) slave, but maybe the metal line OR the braided section.

Like I said, I know we don't do this, I was just wondering why. Is is because it can pinch and crimp, or because of the heat in the engine bay, or maybe the elasticity over such a distance?

Could not find this question in archives....
Curious,

The reason is the elasticity of the rubber.

I strongly recomend you to replace your line with stainless steel one. I haven't done it yet (it was not available at the fiero store) but I did replace all brake lines with stainless steel ones.
In addition, the stainless steel braided lines is a + for the sames reason (much less elastic than rubber one). I also changed the 4 braided lines for the brake system and it give you a big difference.

Hope this helps,
