Hey Gang,

I have an interior trim removal question. When I removed the A-Pillar trim piece I broke the two clips that connect to the roof and cracked the piece almost in half. Can anybody tell me how I'm supposed to remove this without breaking it? I still have the passenger side to do and I don't want to mess it up. Thanks

Use a door panel removing tool. Pull down on the a-pillar panel near the roof section. You will see two tabs from the panel. Pry there with the tool working your way from the rear of the panel. Insert tool at the tabs and lift the handle upwards and it will release. The two white ratchet like clips near the windshield will require a pick tool to release te clips. You can use a wire hanger or a long skinny screwdriver.

I can email you my pics. I can't load them here because I'm working off of my iPhone.
Dave

Pull the handle upward.

Pick tool.

Door panel removing tool.

A-pillar clips.

Use the pick tool to release the ratchet clips.

If I were you, I'd buy those clips from the Fiero Store now. I'm on my 3rd Fiero interior removal, and in my opinion, those clips get soooo chewed up from the removal of the a-pillars that it would be worth it to get newer ones...just my opinion though.

Hey All,

I really appreciate all the great pics and help. When I was st The Fiero Factory getting a new trim piece I chatted with the techs and they told me to use a flat head screwdriver and gently push down and away when removing the upper part of the trim piece. All I know is to be REALLY careful - those trim pieces are not cheap

That why I would use a door trim removal tool, more surface area for leverage but if you want to use a scredriver knock yourself out.

GM has always used "snap together, break apart" fasteners on their cars. Only good for one-time use. REALLY annoying
