Are not the same , normaly you should get new one like the head bolts

And see the download of the parts catalog here on PFF as a PDF

I dont have my service manual in front of me right now, but I know that in most cases, the mounting surface of a flexplate is much thicker than a flywheel. I had this issue with my 3800sc swap because I bought flexplate(owner called it flywheel) bolts and they were much too short. If you have both in front of you, compare them. I wouldnt trust losing any threads into the crank with a thicker flywheel, plus as already mentioned, they may be torque to yield.

The flexplate bolts won't be long enough to use on a flywheel. Advance Auto sells flywheel bolts (part #14052). They're about $8 for a pack of six. The Fiero Store sells flywheel bolts, too (part #52818). But theirs cost about $25 for a pack of six.

According to the P22 manual the Stick shift F/W bolts are 23mm long & the automatic bolts are 18.5mm.

when switching from auto to stick in my 4.9 swap I had to get different bolts as the flex plate bolt were much too short and the flywheel/flexplate are torque to yield bolts

Torque to yield is when you tighten a fastener so high preload is achieved by tightening up to the yield point of the fastener material -- almost breaking, but not quite

Just got the 14052 and they are the wrong ones. The thread is different. I'll have tocheck the GM parts store or if not pay the $$ for the FS kit.

The Advance Auto Parts website had those listed for the Fiero. So I assumed it was the correct part. DOH!

I try to avoid giving bad info to people as much as possible. So I feel really bad about this.

That said, the bolts sold by the Fiero Store do fit. I used those myself.

Don't worry. Not your mistake but Advance's. I would have bought them anyway as they are listed for our car

I think maybe I reused the flywheel bolts from when I had the 3.4 in my 5-speed car. I measured them and they are 23mm top to bottom. This is how they look. I think they have plenty of meat to grab.
