It's snowing and rainin out here in ny. Is there anything I can do to avoid rain getting in my back vents. I do not have a garage so it's not an option. Right now I wrApped my vents in a bag put them back on and closed the trunk. That's All I can think of right now.

Any ideas would be Apprecited.

You need the vents to be open. There is no issue with water getting in there, if you car is properly maintained. Is there a reason you are trying to stop the water?

There's not much you can really do.

The normal life of the car, this would be acceptable. The snow would simply melt away when the car has been running long enough. But these cars are already 23+ years old and this kind of stuff starts to take it's toll.

I think what you did is probably the best solution. There's not much else you can really do if there's no way to cover the entire car. The last thing you want though is ice to form on a car cover... it'll scratch your paint big time.

The car is fine. I just don't wan wAter getting in there and starting to rust things up. It's only for when I'm parked of course. The car is 23 years old looks good and I want to keep it that way.

I was going to leave it home and put a car cover but I figure what's the point it's a nylon cover and the wind blows it off half the time.

Mmmm is there a waterproof car cover I can get for the Fiero. ??

it's not the snow and water you need to worry about. LEAVES are. they can cause a fire or they get into engine bay and break down and fill in around back spark plugs.this makes it harder to replace spark plugs later down the road. do not worry about water and snow. these cars were made to take the problems you are talking about. only thing that snow will do is rust out the battery tray in time. with spring time cleaning and upkeep you can stop rust and leaves and other problems that may rise with owning a fiero. take care of your baby and it will take care of you. just remember these car are 20 + years old.

I wouldn't worry about it. snow/ice won't hurt the car and if you have a little rust, clean it up on the spring. When you drive it, you will get more exposure to the elements anyway (salt, sand, water, snow, ice, gravel).... Just drive, and enjoy. Once a week take it and spray it off at the car wash (the car... not the engine). In the spring wipe down the engine and coat with WD-40 in the fall

When your driving in the rain, the engine bay is like a giant vacum cleaner. It sucks up all the water it can from underneath. The natural airflow to keep the engine cooled is it intakes at the bottom and goes out at the vents. Going down the road its like a firehose spraying from under it. The little that goes into the vents is not going to hurt anything.

Move to Arizona.

Seriously though, you're stressed for nothing. How realistic would it be for manufacturers to build a car that can't be parked (or driven) in the rain?

I live on the west coast where sometimes it seems to rain all the time. No harm done.

A couple of clean(or new) front floor mats work great to cover those vents when parked.

Might get a little toasty under there if he forgets to swap them back and goes for a long drive.
