Does anybody know if the 84-87 lower control arm bolts that are in the 84-87 front suspension section will work on the 84-87 rear lower control arms? I don't see bolts listed for the rear control arms in the rear section...

I've been working on my rear suspension. Just replaced one control arm, but had the other out to replace the bushings. Tomorrow I can look at the front and compare the bolts.

I just went outside to check and it looks like they will work. There is a couple of differences between the two, but should still work no problem.
The main difference is, the factory rear lower control arm bolts are measuring 81mm long on my 84 I am working on. I got the front lower bolts from the Fiero store, and they are 90mm long. Same size diameter, and same thread. Same style bolt head even. 10.9 hardness stamping. Another difference, my factory rear lower nut is flanged, but the ones from the Fiero Store are not, but they are locking nuts. I have both sets of bolts lose on a table, and had a cradle to do another experiment. The front bolts from the Fiero store, are just long enough, they won't go in the holes needed, unless you put the head in the void on the cradle then slide them into place. The heads will hit the outside of the hole you reach through in the cradle, and not clear as the bolt tries to start in the hole inside. Not sure if that is clear, but you would see what I mean if you had them. Another solution would be to just shorten the Fiero Store bolts to the 81mm or so with a cut off wheel or other means. Conclusion, yes they "will" work, or at least I would use them with no problems or worries. My rear lower bolts were fine, and the front lowers broke while removing, is the only reason I have the new front, and old rears. Hope that helps you out.

Kevin

Thanks that helps a ton!

I'm sitting in my dorm away from my fiero so I can't look for myself.

My front lower bolts are fine, but my rear lower ones, the heads are getting to the point where they are too rounded for my liking.

I can check the P Book and let you know what it says. It lists the dimensions of many of the more inportant bolts. I'll post back here around lunch with what I find.

According to the P Book, they are exactly the same: M12 X 1.75 X 90 (10.9), that is:

M12 = 12mm bolt diameter
1.75 = thread pitch
90 = length in mm
10.9 = grade

I held off buying these ones from the fierostore for this reason. I did buy the front upper control arm bolts though. They are pretty long and I don't know if I could find those..

The upper ones are hard to find apart from at TFS, but I was able to buy a box of 10 from a specialty fastener place here in Nova Scotia two years ago. Maybe this should be in The Mall, but I still have 8 new bolts (grade 10.9) that I'd be willing to part with for CDN$8 each plus shipping for anyone that's interested.
