I'm swapping a 3800 SC III into an 88 Fiero. I'm currently cleaning out the engine bay and have come to the vacuum lines.

-I'm going to tear out the Fiero cruise control because it doesn't work and I plan to install a newer cruise control.
-I got WCF's steel vacuum line to install

What lines do I need to keep and what do I need to scrap? Pictures and location descriptions are helpful.

Thanks,
Mike

This is the vacuum line routing I am using minus the boost gauge line. It depends on the accessories you are keeping, like the boost control solenoid and EVAP stuff. If this is all you have like me, this works well.

For reference sake, the picture was originally from Bubbajuju in another thread. Bubba, if you do not want me to post this picture I will delete it immediately, just let me know. I just wanted to give credit where it is due.

Thanks Joe, but I'm talking about all of the metal lines and the canisters that line the engine bay. There are some on the firewall and some on the trunk. I'd like to know what I need to keep and what I can throw away.

The 3/8 inch port on the side of the throttle body can be used to run the brake booster so you can then block off the larger one on top of the SC. The MAP sensor and fuel pressure regulator need vacumm from the port under the snout of the SC as well as the boost bypass solenoid if you use it.
The metal lines on the trunk wall from the Fiero are no longer needed, take the small port off the top of the SC and feed it to the Fiero charcoal cannister and leave the vent line from the fuel tank attached to the charcoal cannister. Other then that no other vacumm lines are needed to run this engine. Dan

I'm assuming that the charcoal canister is the one under the decklid vent. What does it do? Is it just a filter?

When you say the port on top of the supercharger, do you mean the pcv valve?

Charcoal canister is the round plastic canister mounted on the driver's side of the engine bay its job is to vent fumes from the tank so you do not get the fumes in the car.
Reason being for the engine to be able to draw fuel from the tank while the engine is running air has to be able to get in to allow for the fuel going out or nothing would flow.
The 98 and newer cars use a different system where a pressure sensor in the tank feeds the PCM which controls two vacumm solenoids in the line from the engine to the charcoal cannister. One solenoid allows vacumm through and the other vents it off if the pressure gets too high.
On the Fiero it was a simple set up with out the solenoids and pressure sensor which is much easier to work with then drilling a hole in the fuel tank for the pressure sensor and trying to mount the much larger charcoal cannister the newer cars use. Dan

Heavens no I don't mind, brother. But thanks for the consideration, Joe. Maybe it will help someone in a future search.

sounds great Bubba. BTW, + to ya for creating that in the first place, it helped me a lot with my own swap.
