I'm looking for the dimensions of the northstar engine block. I have a plastic 350 engine and its too long for my tube frame chassis. I have a 3.4 DOHC mocked up in the frame now but I'm wondering if I can fit a Northstar. The chevy is about 2" too long with all the water pump accessories and the adapter plate on it. Plus my frame has less distance between the cradle and the upper rail. There is also a roll bar down tube brace that sits where the water pump belt would normally reside on the V8 Archie install. Idealy does any one have some pictures of a northstar mated to a Getrag on a cradle that can take some measurements for me?

Thanks
Andy

Just measured the frame. I have 23" and change from the bellhousing of the 282 to the frame rail. I think if I mount the alternator and oil pump on the low side with a custom HTD belt drive I just need the basic block dimension length.

I can go measure any number of components from a '97 that's disassembled in my shop, or from another one that's complete sitting on a stand for you if you need, but from this site http://grannys.tripod.com/enginescadillac.html they state the general dimensions are: 28"W, 26"H, 31"L.

That would be awesome. What I need is the rear mount flange (that goes to the transaxle) to the front of the timing case and then out to the end of the idler pulley bolt (or the snout of the balencer).

21.75 " for the first measurement, and add another 1 5/8" for the idler pulley and bolt.
