I have bought 3 different rebuilt motors for the passenger side of my 86 se fiero. The original had a stripped gear. so the first one I ordered lasted 2month and stripped the gear. the second didn't have enough power to raise the headlight. and the third lasted for 3 month and stripped the gear. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have alot of money wrapped up in shipping charge back to the company and labor taking out and putting in. The gears they used were a fiber gear. Is there a stronger gear that I can use? Seems like everyone I talk to its always the passenger motor that acts up is there a reason why? Drivers is the original and I have had no problems.Help someone.

Rodney sells rebuild kits and i believe also has aluminum gears. Rebuild what you have. Not sure what year but you might want to upgrade to the 87 88 headlight motors. Do a search and you'll find several threads on the swap. Need both motors and complete wireing harness. Not really hard to do and better motors. Not sure why 1 side is worse than the other.

Oh and edit to say welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of helpful people and info here.

Check out Rodney Dickman's Fiero web site (link below). He offers a heal light motor rebuild kit with a meal gear instead of a plastic one.

http://www.thefierostore.com/
or
http://www.rodneydickman.com/catalog/

Look under Catagories for Fiero Headlight Gears

Both links should get you to the same place.

You might want to check out http://www.freewebz.com/fie...eadlights/index.html I've used Dave Solts rebuild service for two different vehicles and I can attest to his excellent service and fair pricing. As an example --- ordered a motor the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving - and had it at my door after work on Monday. He's in Texas- i'm in VA! Just thought It would be nice to promote an individual who provides excellent service.

I've already bought and installed Rodney's kit for both motors... Very helpful on the phone and his product is very high quality.

When I can, I'll update this with an explanation on why passenger motors suck to work on.
