Hi, I just purchased a 1986 pontiac Fiero Sport with a 5 speed 2.5l engine that has 168k on it. I bought the car with intensions of turning it into a kit car, I also ordered the mercy 1 kit off of carkitinc.com and intend on stretching the car 10.5 inches to mount the body. I was planning on swapping in a 3800 series 2 L67 supercharged engine, I am firmiliar with honda engines as I have recently taken my s2000 engine out and completley built it but I have never even touched a GM engine, let alone know anything about them. So I guess I am wondering if anyone could give me an exact list of parts needed to finish the job, swapping in the 3800 series 2 and using the 5 speed transmission taking into consideration that the frame will be stretched 10.5". Also does anyone know any shops located in FL that work on fieros or specialize in swaps like this. I might consider taking the car to a shop and just have them mess with it if anyone knows a good place anything would help. I appologize as I am new to the forum if I have asked a question thats already posted in here.

thanks

welcome to the forums! you can use the search feature on the site on the top right area. just type 3800sc in subject/username or click entire thread. play with it a little bit til you find what you are looking for.

if you are stretching the rear of the car your engine would have to be longitude mounted. the 3800sc with a 5spd would not work, unless you use a different transmission.

if you do not stretch it, you can order some motor mounts from west coast fieros, and some members on the forums here.
i do not know anything about florida, so i cannot help you there.
good luck on your kit car build. I heard about carkitinc and I read mixed reviews. Hopefully, they will be good to you.

Check out http://www.madmechanics.com/ its a forum based on kit cars and such.

I wouldent sugest using the isuzu 5 speed in an L67 swap. I have herd good and bad tales about that. Either lok into getting a getrag 5 speed or the pontiac G6 6 speed transmission for your swap.

Did a 3800SC series II conversion on a stretched lambo kit a few years back, as far as the swap goes the only differences is the wiring harness has to be longer to reach. Room wise it is a lot easier working on the engine when the fire wall is that much further away.
Go with a nice low mileage 3800 SC engine and you will be fine with no need for any rebulding, mount it to the Getrag 5 speed or even better a FWD Getrag with the stronger differential and you will be all set. Keep in miknd it will be a fairly heavy car when finished and do not abuse the car with hard launches and the tranny will last for a long time.
Get a hold of Jimmy on here he is in Florida and can atleast tell you where not to go for this kind of work. Dan

You can use the Fiero starter but the newer ones are so much smaller and better then the older ones that it is not worth it.
Most stretches I have seen so far were done behind the fire wall and the engine cradles were stretched to match, this way you have much more room in the engine bay to work with. Dan
