Has anyone encountered water leaking and getting under the carpet on the drivers side??
This is a rust free car, but I suspect the water may be leaking in next to the drivers side mirror (there's a little hole there and every fiero has it) and sliding down the frame eventually under the molding and then the under that carpet and making it wet.
The drivers side door seal looks good, but could this be a "usual" thing with fieros in this area?? Was there any recalls for this problem??
Just like the sunroof, how can water slide down the "A" & "B" pillar when the sunroof has a lower part where the seal and sunroof tracks are in?? That place is lower than the whole roof...so how can water drain when the roof is higher than the sunroof parts?? Those drilled drain holes seen useful to me if water stays trapped in that gapped area...unless someone can explain that with a visual photo with the plastic roof off.
I'm getting annoyed with all these new GM parts installed, and still leaking like an SOB.
I have water getting in my trunk and I have a new GM trunk seal...not much, but enough to create rust issues down the road...
Does anyone have a leak free fiero here that you can tell me about. Forget about talking T-Tops...I know the story there.
TIA,

The rubber grommet where the door wiring goes through the A-Pillar.
Make sure it is in one piece, and that it is firmly in place where it pushes into the A-Pillar.
Then, check the tube where the steering column goes through the front firewall to the rack. This should be in one piece.
Oh, while I am thinking about it... On some vehicles, there is a plastic access panel behind the driver's side of the dash. I do not remember if the Fiero has this or not. Pull the driver's side speaker, pull the batting aside, and see if there is a panel. It could be leaking there.

I check the rack inlet rubber peice, and that is fine...
The "A" pillar door wiring boot looks good, and well and intacted.
That last comment at some panel near the side speaker, I don't know what you mean.
If anyone has a "leak free" fiero, please say something. Unless all fieros have a leak issue somewhere's...that may make me feel better...
No leaks. The sunroof leaked, but stopped when I added the drain holes per Buddycraig's (member) instructional YouTube video. After putting all sort of parts into the first two, to no avail, I was sure Fiero sunroofs all leaked. Can't answer the rest, though, as I never experienced any other leaks.

Re-read my post. The panel may be behind the speaker in the dash. You will have to pull the grill and the speaker, then look through the opening. Behind the insulation there.

i have the same problem with both of my 87GTs...didn't realize water was getting in until i stripped the carpet out of both and they were sitting out in the rain...they are very small leaks but both of them leak in the same places...when it rains i can go and look in both cars and there is a very small amount of water right in the floor pan right below the front of the doors on the drivers and pass sides...don't know if its common w/ fieros but seems to be since it does with in the same spots on both the cars that i have...not sure exactly where it's coming from b/c i've not taken the time to investigate...but like i said, it's a very small amount and i didn't even know it until i pulled the carpet out and could see the water drops against the floor pan...think i'm gonna get my gf to hose one of the cars down while i sit in it...maybe i can find where it's coming from

Can someone confirm that there actually is a access hole there?? Or if some one has a pic on file of this??

Majority of water leaks to front floor are in front bulkhead (firewall) or windshield seal. Wouldnt hurt to make sure vent holes in bottom of door are clear so it can fill door and run in too. I usually drill a few 1/2 inch holes in bottoms of older cars doors and undercoat around them afterwards so water has no chance of accumulating in the door bottom.

Roger, are you talking about the windshield molding strip?? I have a new one in, but I didn't put black RTV sealant under. I thought that the windshield is already sealed from the installer that puts in windshields.
That may be my problem....?

Yes, the rubber is just a trim piece and dont seal anything. The glass is supposed to be sealed into the body. There is a lot of flex there and seal can break especially at corners. Mercedes SLs had a real problem. Ive even seen it flex so much in a few years, you could push the windshield out very easily. TSB from Mercedes recommended removing and remounting them every few years if the car was driven much. I even had one fall out when hitting a bump once.
