I am in need of something to cover up the exposed flywheel on both lower sides of the engine/tranny... Any ideas for this one? Does someone make an exact-fit cover that bolts on?

If I was only driving this thing on nice sunny days, I would probably not even care. However, I am in Alaska and we get about 10 "nice sunny days" per year, and the snow is coming!

Nobody makes one that I know of. I took my stock one and cut the center out until it fit right( you have to remove the starter though). Starter lines up fine as do the bolt holes. If you swapped in the motor, you can do this. -Jason

I don't see dust covers mentioned very often, so I may as well chime in here...

On an '84 SE that I have, there is no dust cover down below on the bellhousing. Is it really an issue not having one on there? What's the worse that could happen (keeping in mind that I drive strictly on paved roads and snow is relatively rare here)?

With all the other things I build, you would think I have a custom cover of some type. I dont however. I have modified the stock one to practically nothing left and attached that. I have ran without one also on at least 4 installs. If a rock of the right size does find it ways in there, its not going to be good however.

I am doing a 5 speed install on a 3800SC S3 in a few weeks and will see about building one.

Ah, that explains the nickname of the old M22 Muncie transmissions - "rockcrusher".

Excellent. I don't have the original one to modify, so I will keep in touch. Let me know if/when you make one to sell me!
