Does anyone know if the RSM supercharger kits for the 3400 SFI engines will fit into a Fiero engine bay? Here's a couple of pictures of one installed in a Grand Am, it looks like it might be really tight, if it fits at all.

I have A/C so i can't do a Vortech install similar to fierosound's here: http://www.fierosound.com/s...ger/supercharger.htm

The RSM kit uses a drive shaft and mounts the supercharger at the driver's side of the engine.

Just wondering.
Nolan

Looks like it would be a tight fit especially where the deck lid hinge brackets are but any thing can be done with enough modifications to make it work. Dan

Those kits are $3000. You can do an engine swap for less, that will give you more horsepower than a centrifugal supercharged 3.4L. Certrifugal superchargers do boost power but provide the smallest power band of any boosting method.

I have to agree with Dennis, anything can be done, however unless you are doing it just to do it, and are not concerned with the power per dollar, its fine. For the price you can swap in a different motor and be much happier. $3000 assuming its a do it yourself project can be spent in far better ways. Now if you are going to farm out all the labor, your going spend more than 3000 either way you go.

when a friend of mine was thinking about doing a 3400 swap in his car we looked at this set up and their where 2 things that changed our minds.
one no room to fit the shaft in there and the other was the SC is prone to fail alot! it is a bad design from what we have found about it.
granted it looks cool but I still think if I was going to do a 3400 swap and wanted more I would go turbo.
more power and longer life.

Yes, it looked to me too that the hinges would interfere with the shaft location.

Thanks for your input guys! Pluses given, if you didn't already have them
