The reverse lights in my 87' Fiero GT (2.8L 5 Speed) are not working when the car is in reverse. I tried jumping the connection everything worked fine. This leads me to believe the switch has gone bad on me. I have spent the last week trying to hunt down this part. I found one in Bronx, New York, but the guy wants $85 for the part and $15 to ship it because it is discountinued. Are there any other options for this? I really do not want to drop a hard earned $100 for a switch. Any help would be great.
Thanks, Jeff

I'm also looking for the same switch. Disassembled mine and attempted to repair it with some bumper adhesive, but it's just too strong so after you put it in reverse a few times, the lights just stay on.

Gee, that was quite some time ago. I can't quite recall the size, but I do remember it was kinda difficult to get out simply because of where it's located on the transmission. I think I used some PB Blaster to loosen it a little and then loosened it from the back side of the connection, or the side closest to the rear window.

The size is 22mm but this is also very close to 7/8inch. Two choices for tools. One is to use a 1/2" drive oxygen sensor socket. This will be a 7/8 deep socket with a groove cut out of the size to clear the wires. Second is a six point flare crowsfoot 7/8" wrench that is a very short wrench that a long socket extension can be attached to. You have to put the trans into the right gear (first I think) for the most clearance for the socket. Use a long 1/2 extension fished up past the vacuum can on the rear firewall and attach a ratchet. You can now get the leverage to break the switch loose. Collectors Auto Supply had the switches a while ago. They are in Oregon State I think
