I need your opinion. I am replacing my original 4x6 rear speakers. I do not want to have to cut any metal. Who makes the best sounding speaker that wil fit easily, and work efficiently with a stock GM CD head unit and factoy sub. I don't want to add amps. Other than splicing wires I want a plug and play install. TIA

How do the speaker covers come off? Do you just use a screwdriver and pop them off hoping they dont break?

They dont come off, you have to pull the entire interior panel to get to them.

Hey Rick,

Checkout Amazon.com. I just installed "Pyle" 3 way 4X6 240 watt in the pilars and "Pyle" 4X10 3 way 300 watt in the front with a "Boss" 8" 600 watt Sub/Amp behind the passenger seat. Excelent sound and was inexpensive. I think the 4X6' were 28.00 a pair and the 4X10's were 34.00 a pair. The 4X6's fit tight due to the magnet size but they will go in with no cutting of the body or mods to the pilar cover. The 4X10's have a couple "tabs" that need to be cut off the speaker body and they fit perfect up front.

The 4X6's are # PL463BL and the 4X10's are #PLG41.3

Rick,

I have used Boston Acoustic 4 x 6 plate speakers in several vehicles and have been very satisfied with the result.

the higher end polk 4x6's sound amazing, the lower end ones usually sound great as well.

I suggest amping them and not using anything that comes on an internal headunit.
