Hi All,

Is there any easy fix to a broken "trip" meter or does it have to be replaced? I push the button and nothing happens. I don't want to go into the dash until I know of different options. Better safe!

They are really very simple and I'd be surprised if it was broke at all. Do you hear it clicking while you drive.
The thing that happens to them is they don't like to be reset quickly, you can't just punch the button.
Press it in and hold it and slowly let it out and try it. Everytime I just give mine a quick push it does not work unless I do the above.
I have taken the odometers apart and there really is nothing that can break in them unless you somehow broke a gear but you would really have to work at it... It's just a small motor that is geared right to the dials. Very simple.
Now if the motor is not running (stuck) or the digital drive for it is bad then that is a different story. It is a type of stepper motor with driver circuit. In that case you would need to find a replacement speedo board.
Try a slow reset first.

Mine does the same thing. I can still hear it click though, and what Dodge said is right. I can only push mine in about half-way for it to work. Sometimes I have to mess with it a couple of times, but it does work. Ahhh......Fiero peculiarities, gotta love 'em.

Mine is the same way. I recall the Fiero owner's manual stating that it should never be reset while moving. I think it's the only car I ever had where you couldn't reset it while moving. I've had 2 '84's and the trip meter was the same on both. Yes, the idiosyncrasies of the Fiero.

mine does the same thing if I do it too fast. Also I have found that if all the 0's are not IN LINE it won't work.
