Is it possible to change the cam on a 3800 SC while it is installed in a Fiero? Or would I need to 'pull the engine' to get to it?

I am thinking that it might come out the side.

Thanks y'all,

Steve

I always thought it would be possible to do this with my 3.1
the final key being "tipping" the cradle somewhat, to get the cam low enough to go thru the wheel well

it is possible but the cradle has to come down quite a bit. I left out the cam sensor magnet when I did my cam swap so I had to take it back apart. I did it at school with a lift and a big transmission / gas tank table jack. I also could not swing it far enough safely (88 cradle) to get enought clearance so i ended up taking all 4 bolts out anyway and supporting the whole thing with the jack table thing (dont really know what its called). it saved a little time but it would be very hard without the lifting equipment I had available.
