I've got 3 of the nuts off. I cant move the seat foreward or back. I think the wire that goes from the handle to the right slider is broke off.

Anyone have an idea how to get the seat slid foreward so I can get to the right rear seat bolt and pull the drivers seat out?

how about photos of the seat track so I can guess what I need to pull blindly so the seat will move?

I ended up getting a ratchet box wrench that would fit over the nut. It was flat enough that that I could squeeze my hand under the seat to reach the nut and loosen it.

If you can get your hand under there, you can release the slider manually. Was easy on my IROC which suffered the broken linkage problem (I actually think they're the same seats; the Fiero seats look just like my 88 IROC's).

I just put my seats in, otherwise I could help you out. But you can look at the other side to see where the wire attaches.

Ok, I finally got it out of the car. Here's how to get the seat out if the seat tracks wont move.

Look under the seat, removing the front 2 nuts so you can rock the seat back and see or reach under. you need a bright light to see under there.

On the tunnel side of the track towards the front is a spring, release and remove that spring.
then get a long screwdriver and pry the bracket away from the track that the spring attached to towards the middle of the seat pry it out to the center of the seat to release that lock, now the seat should be able to slide forward.

Note: I scored a small 1/4 drive breaker bar and about $1.78 in change. that was hidden under the seat.

I'll take photos later to make this easier to understand.

I decided to whip out the old camera and post a few pictures of some spare seats for you, even though they're kinda rusty and not very pretty. The photos are all taken such that the forward edge of the seat is at the bottom of the photo. In this photo the seat rails are locked.

In this photo, you can see how the main lock release lever pulls on a secondary release lever on the other rail. If your cable is broken between the two levers, you should be able to reach under and release the secondary lever by hand.

Here's a close-up of the secondary lever to give you a better view. Hope this helps.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

The cable that connected the second lever had in-fact broken.

I fashioned a new one out of a coat hanger.

Your pictures made everything very easy.
