OK I have a mutant Fiero, it's an 88 Sport Coupe that I converted to an 88 GT as much as possible body and engine wise. But I have a different year front fascia I think is an 85 GT. It has a smooth front arrow section, but the back section of the molding on the other side of the side light is grooved. I'm trying to get ready to have this thing painted, and I was going to install all of the molding and have the car painted solid instead of leaving the molding and aero panels a different color. Am I stuck here or can I somehow trim that section down and install the 88 GT light and molding right over it? I know it's complicated, but if you ever ran into this issue you would understand what I mean, the smooth molding is longer than the grooved molding.
I think I answered my own question, you just cut it off I guess. I must have an SE nose or something, I always thought it was a 86 and up GT because I saw the rounded molding up front in the little arrow section. But now that I'm trying to put it together I see it's really an SE, AND one of my light's is snapped in half so I need a new one. The worst part is, I KNOW I already bought that light but I can't find it in in the numerous boxes and tubs of parts I accumulated over the past 8 years. Ugh!!!

The 86-88 GT's had Round bolt on moulding with the marker lights, 84 indy, 85 GT, and 86 SE have ribbed moulding, molded into the fascia behind the marker light. Sounds like you have the wrong year Fascia to me.
