i'm installing the brake upgrade from the fiero store, which I believe is just the grand am upgrade in a kit. I'm almost done, but I just can't figure out how to use the retaining clip for the outer pad. If anyone has used this kit, input would be helpful

I've have one installed. Rear is grand am I did my self. Front is FieroStore and is also grasnd am. There was nothing unique or dificult so I don't remember much about it. I don't recall having any problems with the retaining clip at all, nothing unique at all so I just don't know how to help. Are you sure you have the correct part? Wish I could be more helpful...

Just pushes over the caliper and the ends of the prongs fit into the detents on the caliper face.

maybe I have the wrong clip. It's for the outside pad. The stock brakes had a clip attached to the outer pad that held it to the caliper. These front pads have no clip attached to them, and I just had a couple of w clips in the box with the pads.

ok sorry, let me clarify. The inner pads already had a clip on them that pushes into the piston and holds them in place. All good. But the outer pads have no clip on them like the stock pads. There were a couple of w clips in the box with the calipers that I'm assuming are for the outer pads. However, I just noticed that they are almost identical to the clips for the inner pads on the stock rear brakes, so It's possible I was sent the wrong part.

I did the Fiero Store kit a while back. If I recall, there are no clips on the outer calipers. But there are some metal tabs that you bend a bit to hold them in place. I think I read about that in a Grand Am Haynes manual I looked at while in a parts store.

Did you bend back the tabs on the brake pad that go through the holes on the caliper to secure it to the caliper? Seems to me that if you don't, the pad will drag and rattle around?

I didn't because I tend to take things apart WAY too often, lol. So far no rattle.

I installed mine the same as Hudini. I didn't bend any tabs over either and never noticed any noise or other odd behaviour.

Ok, that's good enough for me, thanks guys.

I still have to get my new hoses on, front stock calipers, bleed the system sometime, will see how it goes, maybe in a week.
