Someone previos to me had installed 6X9 Speakers in the dash FROM the bottom. I was able to "fish out" the Pass side speaker from undernieth, But I don't see that I'll be able to get the driver side out that way.(speakers are shot, were junk from the beginning) SO, question IS, What exactly has to come out to get the dash pad Off ? cener with AC/Radio, steering column, gauge pod ,... ??? easier way ??? Thanks

The shifter surround -> Radio/HVAC surround -> Aux Gauges if you got 'em -> Gauge cluster -> Hood release lever -> two screws to front firewall in each speaker recess -> one screw on each underside near the courtesy lights -> Dash up/over the steering wheel and out the door

While you have the dash out, check to be sure the PO modified the ductwork on the drivers side correctly. The 6X9 requires duct mods to allow space for the basket and magnet. Did the PO reweld plastic back to seal the ductwork back up?

Dash is a piece of cake. I removed my steering wheel also. It made the whole job a little bit easier, rather than reach around and threw it all the time. Just a few miniets to replace it afterwards too.

No screws under the defroster vents?

Nope... the whole dash is held in with just six screws... 4 on top and 2 on the bottom... ask again why GM products rattle and squeak

If there is an easier dash to remove on a car....I haven't found that car yet. It's so easy you will think you must be missing some screws somewhere but there aren't many holding the dash in.
