I have heard that the 1st and 2nd gear ratios for the 282 Getrag in the 86/87 GT's were different from the 88 GT's gear ratios. The reason I am curious is because back in October I had a shop replace my Getrag with a new/rebuilt unit. They never told me if it was an 87 or 88 transaxle. The Fiero it went into was my 87 GT. Were the 88 Gear ratios better or what?
Thanks

I no longer have that nice chart of tranny ratios, but IIRC, all getrags were the same for the v6's. in the fiero anyway

The 88 282 Getrags have a dedicated fill plug on the transmission while the 87s do not.

87s also had a fill point that was a screw in type.

I found the chart on paper. all the getrags used in fiero's had the same ratios across the board. the 4 cylinder did not use a getrag.
There were some slight packaging changes done with the fill hole, do a search on how to identify manual transmissions, there is a thread with pics that covers those differences.

Just for the record, my '86 Muncie/Getrag had the screw in type with dipstick.
