So the title says it all. Why can't the 3.4 PR intake work for a Fiero?

I think there was someone that did finally make one work. The main reason is there is no room for the Distributor to go back in with that 3.4 intake. The 3.4 is DIS, so they plugged the distributor hole with a nice expensive oil shaft dummy plug.

But if you used a 7730 ECM then you could take advantage of the DIS, right? That would eliminate the need for the distributor...

It can, But you need to modify the neck by cutting it open and patching it to clear the distributor. The stock 3.4L uses DIS so no distributor.
Do a search under "cooter", If I recall he had one modified to clear the distributor.

Run the 7730 with DIS and you should even be able to turn the 3.4SFI intake to face the driver's side.

I plan on doing this. As soon as I find a 3.4 Camaro/Firebird at the u-pull-it, or if anyone has one, I'll buy it.

I also plan on finally adding back the EGR, since I have the 7730, DIS, and have a brand new digital EGR valve unit.

my current "gutted" stock intake is working OK - but it is starting to grow cracks, from the cast alum vs the sheet alum.
