So I'm pretty sure that the tranny in my 88 fiero is not the original since it seems like a 1990 or > getrag. (uses a reluctor for speedometer instead of the gear driven fiero speed sensor) my first gear is VERY hard to shift into. its impossible to shift to it softly and slowly from neutral.. it feels like there's no upper left spot to shift into and while driving it usually I put it into second and quickly shove it straight forward. and when I say shove, I mean SHOVE. Even with that, it doesnt always go into gear. It often times just feels like somethings stopping it and and doesnt go in (no it doesnt grind).

I've tried shifting with everything turned off, still has problems. If I shift from 3rd 4th 5th or R, It wont go into 1st. If I shift to 2nd, I can *usually* shove it to 1st and from there continue to go between 1st and 2nd but I have to continue to shove it to 1st, it never goes easily. I've disconnected both cables and the shifter moves smoothly. I've tried shifting it at the transmission and 1st adn 2nd are difficult there too. I've checked the tranny fluid and its good.
I just wanted to get any comments or thoughts from all the smart people...
