So I have completed swapping an 96 DOHC out of a Monte Carlo Z34 into my 85se. I did the initial software tune using HP Tuner, when we put the car on the dyno to continue tuning, we found that the engine was not pulling very hard (110hp) and would not pull past 5K. The engine also miss's erratically from 3K to 5K. I have changed the plugs, wires. ignition modules and tried different ICM's. I installed 2 brand new ICM's that were suppose to be for the 96-97 neither would even fire the engine (crank no start).I am at a loss as to were the problem is, I did check the cam timing. The intake valve with the Cam Position sensor was one tooth off. After I corrected the timing the car seems to run stronger but will not pull above 5K.

Anyone have any ideas????

Try reversing the wires connected to the crank position sensor. The colors may not line up.

After finding the wiring problem this is what see pulled on the dyno

3,4 DOHC from a 96 Pontiac GTP, ECM from 97 Monte Carlo on an 88 Cradle with a FWD Getrag.

What was the ECM model that you used? I've got the same combination (96 motor, FWD Getrag) to be transplanted into either an 87 or 88 GT (whichever is in better condition). The wiring and ECM issues are what I'm wrestling with. I'd like to go OBD II. What did you program it with? Can you post more pics of the wiring you did?

Thanks
