Hey guys, engine is running great now... so on to the other issues! Right now top on my list is a strange pushing feeling I get while taking turns to the right... feels like the back end is slipping around. I took off the rear tires and checked and tightened the half-shafts... didn't seem to do much. Its a jerky kind of feel, and really does not feel that safe right now!! Although it is great taking a left turn... just right if acts up. It should also be noted that somewhere along the lines a PO replaced the nut on the half-shaft, it is a different size than the stock one, perhaps it is also a different thread? The halfshaft itself on the drivers side also looks much more worn on the end than the passenger side. Ideas?

First off check the air pressure in the tires. A low rear tire will make a Fiero really squirrelly.

Grab the rear tires at 3 and 9 then 12 and 6 and try to rock the tire to see if there is any movement. (Sorry if you only have a digital clock )

Then compare the how the rear tires set on the ground. From the rear does one tip out more than the other? Does one seem to toe in more than the other?

Worn suspension parts can easily do it along with alignment.

Assuming the suspension components are not worn, I would suspect you need an alignment, I did a clutch last week and removed the two rear cradle bolts and the front driver side bolt. When I put it back together, the car ran fine until about 50 mph. it felt like I was driving on ice. The alignment was out, and not even that bad, and I had just done it about two weeks before and I did it myself (on a rack, of course).
I know you probably didn't do anything drastic like removing cradle bolts but my point is that even small deviations from specs on the alignment with a mid engine car can really upset the handling and make the car feel very unstable.

I'd check your left rear lower bolts that hold your strut on. If they've worked loose your camber will be all over the place in a right turn.

I had the exact same thing when I bought my first Fiero. It may be a long shot, but this is what my problem was. The tie rod end securing one of my rear wheels was not tight. Every time I turned the wheel shifted and the Fiero butt kicked out. Pretty scary. I think a bad tie rod end would do the same.
