Hello all,

I have scoured Haynes and Chiltons and cannot find the torque setting from the drain plug. Mine is a 4sp manual '86.

Cheers

Hey PK,

I checked the GM shop manual and it's nowhere to be found in there either. As a guide though, since the case halves are held together with bolts that are torqued to 11 - 16 ftlbs, you could safely torque the drain plug to the same amount without worrying about stripping the threaded hole.

According to AllData, the Manual transmission drain plug should be 18 ft lbs.

Great thank you, that sounds good to me.

What is "All Data"? Something that can be accessed online?

Cheers

AllData is a virtual service manual for all 1982+ cars manufactured and sold in the US.
A lot of dealers use it in their service shops.
It requires a subscription and can be used "on-line"
