I would like to replace my cracked passenger side rocker panel with a new one I purchased. Can someone provide some instructions on how to do the job? I am aware there are rivets that run along the bottom which will need to be drilled out; therefore, I am assuming the car will need to be jacked-up. Will I also have to remove the passenger side front fender (I seriously want to avoid this step).

I'm no expert on this as I've only done a couple but...

On the panels I've removed, the rivets along the bottom under the car were the plastic removable type. The metal rivets which had to be drilled out were the ones hidden by the little plastic panels on the bottom door sill. The front fender did not need to be removed.

My Formula had metal rivets, Indy had plastic along the bottom. Front fenders can stay on, if you don't mind flexing the rocker panels out. There are also rivets on the top that you have to take out, under the plastic clips in the door sill. Screws in the wheel well need to be removed, the moulding on the quarter panel has to be removed and the rivets underneath that drilled out as well as the clips removed.

The quarter panel has a snap-fit into the rocker panels, you can see them once you start to pull the rocker down. The quarter panel you have to slide down to get the upper portion to come out from the rear clip, then just pull the whole thing off.

Thats all I can remember about it off hand, it doesn't take long.

As Xanth stated,

On the door sill (top) there are three (3) tabs that need to be removed. Under the tabs are either plastic or Al rivets. On the under side again are a number of rivets. Again, either plastic or Al. I recently installed rear quarter panels on my '86 GT and had to remove the ground effect molding.

The only item I might mention is the fact that at first the panel did not want to move. You basically have to pull up on it a bit. The entire job did not take over a half hour. Having a plastic rivet gun makes the job go a whole lot faster.

Good luck.

I completed the job today without having to remove any fender: All you do it remove the 3 aluminum rivets on the top part of the rocker panel. Remove the plastic ones along the bottom and remove the 4 bottom mini bolts on the wheel well liner - 2 on each side.

Yeah, I neglected to mention the screws accessed from the wheel wells (as they're rather obvious once you have a look anyway), but it sounds like you found pretty much what I've experienced.
