Could someone PLEASE tell me how to, -STEP by STEP-, remove and replace the headlamp motors from my 86GT? I have replacement motors, I just need a step by step on how to do it. I am a little "challenged" unlesss I have it in black and white.

ALSO, I know I saw a step by step on rebuilding the headlight motors for my 86GT, can anyone PLEASE point me in the right direction for that?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!
NOT SURE WHAT I WOULD DO WITH OUT THE FORUM!

Try a search including headlight motors and Katatak. I know that he has done more than his share of motors. I am sure you could locate something with that search. Good luck. They are fairly easy.

As tmj4fun posted, find everything you can by buddycraigg (yes 2 g's). He has several "how to" videos on youtube. If it were not for him, I would not have been able to get all mine fixed.

Removal of the motors is fairly simple. There are 4 10mm nuts that hold the entire headlight assembly in place. Remove the top 2 and just loosen the bottom 2. The bottom 2 are a little tricky - limited space. Unplug the electrical connectors and lift the whole assembly out of the car. The motor is held on with 3 10mm bolts. Before you remove the 3 mount bolts, take the lift arm assembly off the motor shaft - 1 10mm nut. Sometimes the arm will come right off the shaft and sometimes it takes a little "wiggling". Once you have the arm off the shaft, remove th 3 mounting bolts and the motor comes out. Do these one side at a time - motors are side specific - just helps from getting them mixed up. Good Luck!

Pat

Edit to add: I failed to pay attention to tmj4fun's post and link - that link shows it all.

Thanks for the response everyone. And your right, buddycraig should get the GURU of technical advicve and know-how AWARD. I watched his video set on the headlight motor rebuild seminar, not only was it informative, and well thought out, but his dry humor had me laughing out loud as I watched late last night, I found myself wanting to watch and learn more. I am sure that I can do the job now.
AGAIN, thanks to all, AND to BUDDYCRAIG !
