I am doing some interior detailing on my 88 GT w/T-tops. It looks like the light pod was a DIY mod to fit properly. Here check it out...

Here is the cut up light pod on the right and the nice factory looking trim cover piece on the left:

And here is the underside of the light pod:

Here is what they look like together, notice the buttons don't quite match up to the holes properly:

I was wondering if they ever made factory (non butchered) light pods designed for the T-Top cars?

Specifically, I plan to transfer my performance sound system from my 87 into the GT. The pod from the 87 (which has the sub level control) is a full pod and I hate to risk chopping it up incorrectly, plus the trim piece shown above appears to be made for a 3 button pod, so if I decide to use it, I will need to modify the center hole to accommodate the sub slider.

Don't get me wrong, if need be, I can make it work, but if the parts I am attempting to fabricate already exist, I would much rather go that route if possible.

Ideas? Sources?

I don't have the install manual handy or I'd try to post the page. If I recall, there was a template to place on the OEM map light assembly and you'd basically cut the corners off, and place that cap on it to cover the butchered oem map light. The one I have was done FAR worse then yours. They actually removed the switches and hot glued them to that cap. Count yourself lucky. But.. yeah, the "factory" way was to cut up the OEM one and cover it with the trim cover.

Thanks for the reply.

Thats good news and bad news.

Good news because my current pod is relatively nicely cut,

bad news because I have an Un cut pod which has the performance sound slider in it that I want to install in my T Top.

I didn't know there was a template, I will try to locate it online.

I installed T-tops in my Fiero. I, also wanted the performance sound slider. So I carefully removed the slider and glued it to the T-top pod. Did the same for the dome light switches as well.

I'll check my car when I get home. I have the light bar but never noticed any alterations done to it. It's an 88 factory t-top Gt
