Has anyone found a good price on EGR Solenoids? So far, the Fiero store wants $157, and gmpartsdirect $141 (including shipping). Any better prices out there?

Clean the old one, replace the filter and put back in service. I know a few guys that have also repaired them. Why buy new when used will do? If you do buy new be prepared to bite the bullet as there is no cheap source.

Aside from the filter, what else needs to be done? I've been told there is a winding (coil-type thing) of thin wire that corrodes. This could be due to the damn solenoid being right under the coolant fill cap. Do you know anything about the wire coil, or any other parts that would have to be dealt with?
Thanks!

there is a guy paul on ebay thet rebuilds them, then tests them, then puts them up for auction. Ive seen one sell for 43.00 and one for 73.00, and i believe he gives you 10.00 or 15.00 off if you send him your core! search ebay under fiero parts it will show you like 70 something parts or so and then check box under search window that says include title and description and you will get thousands of parts. you might have to look through a few pages but you will find it. egr control solenoid! ,kevin

I have one that came with my car (87 GT), previous owner says it worked but he replaced it to feel better. I am looking for a factory radio to make my car original (that is the only thing that has been changed). Maybe a trade is in order??

I have a bunch of stock radios, but I don't think I have one that's working. I don't need the solenoid right now, it's for a guy I know who's having trouble smogging the car. If you have a price in mind, I or he might just want to buy it from you.

I recently picked one up at the local Pull-A-Part for a little over $20. I did however, brought along my multimeter and a 12vdc battery so I could test the unit before purchasing. The unit turned out to be fully operative.
As luck would have it, the solenoid valve was not the reason my '86 GT was thowing Code 32; the valve itself was the problem. The valve had a tear in the diaphram.

I believe this is Paul Vargyas from here on the forum. He's posted a few in the mall here...
