I put a new stereo in my car and now i keep blowing a fuse. I think a wire is grounding out, but I don't know which one. The fuse is the rear light fuse. I put a new fuse in it and the fuse won't blow untill i turn the headlights on. After the fuse blows the headlights stay on but when i turn them off the lights won't go down. They will turn off but not go down. Any sugestions? ALso my new stereo doesn't have a light dimmer connected so do you think that can be doing it? Let meknow
thanks

What wires did you tap in to get power from?

Did you compare your radio wiring connections to the GM wiring harness data sheet I emailed you?
Do not connect the yellow wire to anthing if you have no need for it, cap it off.

The lights will not go down because the tailight power circuit you are blowing supplies 12 volts to the headlight motors.

Also, if your headlights and headlight motors were working fine before the radio was installed your problem is at the radio connections.

I did hook it up to the GM wiring harnes page that you sent me. Thank you and it is still doing it, according to that sheat the yellow wire is the 12 volt ignition wire.

I would disconnect the radio and see if this clears up the problem.
Images of the wiring you are working with could help.

According to the data we have you should have two yellow wires, one is a speaker lead. Are they crossed by chance?
I would check the hot yellow with your meter to be sure it is the proper yellow.

I checked all the wireing and they are all set up right. I actually fixed it from blowing the fuse too. But now with the radio on i put the lights on then the radio goes off. No problems with fuses or wiring. Let me know if there is any other ideas of what might cause this.
Thanks

It still sounds like you don't have it wired right.

I still wonder if the yellows are crossed, test for +12 volts on the yellow wires with you meter, then tag it with masking tape and a symbol >>> "+".

I checked the yellow wires and they are conected correctly. I didn't hook up the dimmer wire b/c my radio doesn't have anywhere to put it. Should I do something with that wire? I think I might just hard wire the power for the radio, idk.

Have you verifed what is hot and ground on the car wires with a meter?
Guessing is not a good way to connect wiring.
Sorry to be blunt but...
