Anyone have any idea on how to loosen the top bolt on the compressor. I have to put a belt on and i have tried everything to get the bolt loose without much luck. It is a 2.8 V6 if that helps. Thanks..

That bolt is difficult to get to. You will need to jack the car up and access it from underneath with a U joint socket and a stubby combination wrench.

My solution was to use about 2 feet of ratchet extensions, so I could reach in from the air filter area.

Is this the belt inside the Alternator belt? I need to replace mine as well. Which bolt are you talking about? Does anyone have a pic or a diagram of what I need to do to remove the belt that is on and install a new one? I already have my alternator loose and ready to get the other belt off, but by looking at it from beneath the car don't know where to start.

Thanks!

The A/C compressor has a pivot bolt and a slide bolt, just like the alternator. The pivot bolt is in the top bracket, and the slide bolt is on the bottom bracket.

My experience has been if it isn't a royal PITA then something is not right.
