i have a 85 fiero gt with a 4speed and i was wondering if i could drop the whole rear from an 88 and put the engine and all in the 85 keeping only the trans from the 85 and would this be and harder than just installing the 85 back in it?

It can be done, It would be harder, wiring changes, and you will need a cradle adapter kit for the 88 cradle to fit the 85.

Edit to add: I just found out I think you are talking about a 2.8 motor. I removed my initial post that had to do with a duke so as not to confuse anyone
