well my car has been sitting for 3 months.. Ive started it up 3 times since then, but its been about 3-4 weeks since i last started it. I went out to fire it up yesterday, and i had no power. So i hooked up the battery charger and left it overnight. Came back this morning, and still had no power.. The guage on the battery charger said it was full, but im getting no power. I got my dad to give me a jump start, and after hesitating a few times, it turned over. I noticed that as it was running, it was missing a bit.. i dont know if this was due to the gas going bad or what.. (i know, dont let it sit with gas in the tank, but ive been firing it up, and running it a few times.. to get it moving..). I also noticed that when i pump the brakes, the power guage would dip, and the lights would dim.. I also heard a change in the engine sound when i pumped the brakes.. Could it be a short somewhere? Why would there be a short now, and now a month ago when i last fired it up? After shutting it off, i put it in accessory position, and the battery guage was on 0, i didn't try, but i know it wouldn't start up again without a jump start. Thoughts on what might be wrong? There was a little blue smoke when i first fired it up, but it went away once it got up to opp. temp.

edit: forgot to mention that i have the 2.8/getrag

Add some gas to the tank in case it is lower than you think.

Also check the power feed stud right under the C500 connector on the shock tower near the battery. (Stud with the red wires on it.) is tight and clean. If it is loose it causes funny problems.

I just put a standard wal mart battery in mine, seems to work fine. Sure you can go optima etc but I think that unless you have some special ned (like a big amp or something) or you want to lay the thing on it's side for some reason then there's little point in spending the extra. Just my $0.02 worth.

Once i replace the battery, im thinking maybe i should replace a few other things too.. Maybe i should do that ground upgrade, new ignition mod... maybe the ECM upgrade... can you guys think of any other, fairly inexpensive upgrades i should tackle while im at it?

Adding grounds is cheap but it would seem to me that anything else is just spending money for the sake of it. If you've got that much to spare, I'll take some of it off your hands

all batterys are a 12V set up weather you use optama or energizer. optama is a gel type of battery that holds its charge better than a regular battery. but you dont need one of them. as no matter what battery it is they all hold the same charge and they all do the same thing. mabey one has more CCA's (cold cranking amps's) than others but thats only for extreme cold temps. Id sugest a battery that has the screw holes on the side and the posts on the top to make jump starting easyer.
