I'm trying to remove the oil pan to replace the oil pump, how do I do this? there are some bolts that need removed or something to drop the pan out from under the engine. any ideas? its got a 305 SBC v8

To remove mine I had to undo the front engine mount and lift motor slightly.

Just undo all the bolts on the oil pan (do not forget the 4 larger ones right along the crank at the front and rear). Depending on how the engine is mounted, you can sometimes pull the oil pan with everything else in place, but sometimes you need to raise the pulley side of the engine slightly.
