I took off My spoiler to prep and paint. So far, so good. I just had to remove the stands and sure enough 1 screw just spun around, so I went to drill it out. Well the heat made the plastic melt! So any ideas how to get an insert to hold a screw in that spot?! P.S. Dont use the trunk release without the spoiler, You'ed be amazed at how fast it opens!!!!

take it completly off the car... turn it over... clean it up really good (or as good as you can) mix up some jb weld.. or fiber resin and fill it in but put a small bolt in there with it and it will harden with it in there... might need to make a template to get it perfect..

The spoiler is off. It's the stands that screw to the spoiler that I'm having a problem with. Does JB Weld get hot?

If your saying you need some sort of insert in that location. Maybe look at a tophat nut. You could JB weld in into the original location. You can get them in metric or standard thread.
The hat brim gives the weld more surface to bond to.
Or if you want the brim on the inside you could enlarge the hold to a slot so you can tip the nut into the inside, hold thenut up aginst the inside with a screw while the JB sets.

Yes it'll give you a good smack in the face. Not as painful as the latch mechanism coming down on the back of your head on a windy day, though...

I think his problem is the same I have. The philips head screws that attach the stand to the wing just spins. No way to get underneath the stand to get a hold on the well nut that is just spinning.

I that case I'd start with a dremel and small grinding wheel. Go slow, grind a little, not enough to get it to hot, let it cool go again. Might take a hour but will get there. Could also grind, hit it with an ice cube and switch back and forth.
