what axles are people using for the six speed swap? are there factory [less expensive] drop in axles that work? are people making their own by swapping around axle shafts[little pricey]? or are there only custom [expensive]axels for this setup? i've used the search trying to find out what people are using and haven't come up with anything definitive, or maybe i'm just not looking in the right places. any info would be helpful. thanks, chris

My axle info is somewhere on page 1 and 2. As far as I know i'm one of the only people to finish a 6 spd swap without archies kit. Joseph Upson has done one aswell but i don't think it's on the road yet. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum3/HTML/000030.html

The Cobalt SS f35 axles are said to be weak but a direct fit. I'm starting with 2 pairs for my LS4/F40, one pair to drive on, while the other is sent out to be rebuilt with stronger shafts between the CV joints.

are you swapping in different factory axle shafts or are you having custom axle shafts made? thanks for your input, chris

Okay, my source claims the axles from the supercharged Cobalt SS, so that means '05-'07. Now, I'm not sure the lengths will be useful with the LS4, the sheer size of the LS4 will dictate the lateral positioning of the engine and trans. The V6 guys have the luxury of letting the axles dictate where the engine will sit. In any case, my driver's-side axle is sure to be very short.
I'm further complicating my own situation by changing my hubs. I just took the whole front suspension off a '97 Bonneville, for a free brake upgrade for the rear of my Fiero. This is sure to be stronger, heavier, and create headaches. I'll detail this more in my thread over at realfierotech.com.
