This is a scan from an early Haynes Service Manual.





You may be missing one of the wire hangers labelled # 2 in the diagram.
The shape of it is drawn in green.
I fixed mine with a piece of stainless wire bent to shape.

I just did some ebrake work yesterday!

I took all the cables off; cleaned them, oiled them and reinstalled them (It works great now I might add). As of this moment the hanger that the factory installed doesn't do a thing. When I hook it up to the ebrake cable it usually ends up falling off once I engage the ebrake. However, even with the hanger unistalled my ebrake cable barely sags so I'd be willing to bet that you have to mess with the tension adjuster because right now it is way too loose.

Good luck, I hate that tension adjuster. I think GM designed that thing to ruin my day.
