Going to the local parts store but I dont have the light bulb size for the illuminated "PONTIAC" in the GT tail light. The car is at home in the garage so I cant pull the bulb out and the parts book only go back to 1990.
Right now only "TIAC" is lit up.

Believe they are the same as the side markers. My book with my 88Gt say side and rear tail are 194's

Been a few years since I replace some but think that is correct. Think that is also the same one used for the dash lamp also.

tip: some store carry them by the box of 10. You can often get a box of 10 for the same or less than buying a blister pack of 2.

I know my Oreilly's carries the box of 10 for $2.40 or a blister pack of 2 for $2.99 go figure..

Rodney sells a brighter version, but be careful as to getting too big of a bulb as they can get hot and melt plastic.

Thanks!
I'll just go with a stock replacement bulb for now.
I have to start saving pennies for replacement tail lights. Mine are cracked & de-laminating.
Most likely go with the "Specials" from the FS.

Yep. The sidemarkers, fastback "PONTIAC" light, under dash lights & the instrument panel all use 194 bulbs. Whenever I hit the junkyards I snag as many of these bulbs as I can (as well as fuses). There is never a reason to pay for this stuff! Most junkyards will just let you have it or charge you a buck at most.

If you wanted cheap and readily available bulbs that were brighter than the originals, try the 912 bulbs.

I had them installed in both GTs and were a huge improvement.

Actually they are NOT the same as the side markers. The side markers use a #194/168 bulb (194=3W, 168=5W). These bulbs are used for dash illumination, idiot lights, and side markers.

The "Pontiac" lights in the GT tails use a #906 bulb. These two types of bulbs have the same base but are very different in wattages (~9w). The 906 bulb is also a larger bulb in general. In addition to the tails these bulbs are used for the under dash courtesy lights, dome lights, and under hood light (when equipped).

Hope this helps some of you out there.

EDIT: I have done extensive testing with brighter bulbs in all places in the fiero. For the 194/168 bulbs 5w is about the max you want to do for all replacements. Above that you run a risk of melting things.

For the 906 bulb 12W is about your max in the GT tails and dome lights. 10W max for the courtesy lights. Let me know if anyone wants pics of the two types of bulbs. I have them somewhere around here...

I also wanted the " PONTIAC " on the back of my car to be brighter so here are a few pics of what I did. Top pic is of the 194 light bulb at night in my garage.
The second pic is of the 194 and 906 light bulb. The 194 is on the left and the 906 is on the right. Big difference. The bottom pic is of the 906 light bulb.
