Is it giving you a rich code? I assume it is if its running that rich. Mine had a similer problem and it turned out to be a broken vacuum line at the fuel pressure regulator.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge that you can connect to the fuel rail to see what your fuel pressure is? Im guessing either a crushed return line or possibly a leaking/sticking injector.

i might be able to get my hands on one whats the pressure supposed to be?
The specs. call for fuel pressure on the MPFI systems to be between 40.5 and 47 psi and should hold there for quite some time. If its higher then that with the engine running then its either a clogged return line or a faulty pressure regulator. If you turn the key on engine off and the pressure drops then its either a leaking injector or a faulty pressure regulator, leak in the pressure line or possibly a bad fuel pump. But since your running rich I'd bet either clogged return line or injector issues.

check ur ground straps. with the single wire o2 sensors ground is the return for the sensor. id try adding a thick ground to the frame and battery. if it doesnt help that then it will more than likely help many other things(preventative maint) and ive run into hundreds of problems associated with ground always thought it was something harder than that.... also did u use an ac/delco o2 sensor because if not then put in an ac/delco because many people buy somethin like bosch and think its high quality so itl work better than stock. thats not true buy an ac/delco if its not! that would be a check for sure

I have a big ground strap for neg on battery and the one that goes from engine to trunk hinge already' and ya i dont think it was an acdelco just the cheapest one from my local parts store think it might of been bosch i was reading some other old posts on running rich for the topic and someone mentioned they didnt have a check engine light but the coolant sensor was bad and it only showed it was bad with a scan tool plugged in, the sensor was making the engine think it was running at -28 degrees or something low like that which was making the engine run richer so maybe it might be something like that? also which is the frame ground where is it located thanks

A bad TPS could cause a rich burn, but it would cause it to hunt for idle speed. The Coolant Temp Sensor (CTS) could cause a very rich burn, and may not set a code. The CTS is the one underneath the thermostat housing and EGR solenoid on the V6.

bizziedude you are right but if there is multiple problems this can be an issue. and i know that sometimes non ac/delco brand parts send out wrong voltages. back to the topic: the ground strap is usually run from the top of the Y-pipe to the frame under the air filter you can add a nice beefy strap from literally anywhere on the engine to anywhere on the frame. all you have to do is clean the paint and grime from the connection. hmmmmmm. 7th injector? what about it? if could be just dumping fuel into the engine. ok maybe a stupid question : is the strong mix smell coming from the exhuast or could it be a leak somewhere else

thats what mine did for the longest time.... i cleaned the IAC and replaced the tps (sensor and solenoid on the throttle body) piece of cake. just unscrew the two bolts to the tps and it slides right off. and for the iac it just unscrews the tps arm could be bent and that would cause the engine to think that the throttle is off so it would run really rich.
hey try running in diagnostic mode. try the aldl stuff and what not. should be a writeup on the main page..... one sec
