Hey Guys,

I've got to get some quick answers on this and hopefully what I say makes sense. I need to get some parts for my Fiero quickly so they can be taken into the mechanic on Monday to be installed and I need to know the specs of the parts so I can go buy them today hoping that they are easily found.

I need to know what size hoses I need for the brakes as apparently in AUS we can't use the braided ones that are used in the US. Since the car is low miles I'm guessing they are the originals that are on the car.

The lower "radiator" hose I think, it could be something else as he's crossed that out needs to be replaced as it could go at anytime now. I need to know the specs on that.

And finally the front rotors are undersize and need to be replaced so I need the specs on those.

Any help there would be greatly appreciated as I am hoping to have this stuff ready by Monday as that's the only time the mechanic has to do this. As you can see below the report from the roadworthy has the items that need to be fixed highlighted (faintly in grey) and the stuff crossed out is not required (thank god as the orange park lights could have been a problem). Thanks guys.

Might help to post more info about the car..Year? Engine? Auto or manual?

Send a PM to Ausfiero, he's from down under also He may be able to help you out in finding things.

If the car is all stock though, I don't see how the rotors could be undersized. As for the hose that he crossed out, I would imagine he means the lower coolant pipe (the rubber hose coming off the thermostat housing I believe)... And, AFAIK, the brake lines should be solid from the master cylinder, until the point that they come through the inner fender. From there they should be rubber...

Oh yes of course, 1987, 2.8 V6, Auto. I guess the requirement for cars over here is that the rotors are bigger than the ones on there. Thanks for helping with that. I also need to know what sizes the hoses are so I can go pick some up. Wherever there is a braided brake hose I guess it has to be changed to rubber.

Oh, the brake lines on the car Ken put on a couple of years back when we were trying to solve his bad braking problems.

ahh in that case it is a different story
Sounds like you have the inspector from Hell. That has never been checked on any car I have owned, moved from interstate, imported.

I know that Dave's got them but the price is really up there at approx $150 a rotor where as the Fiero Store is selling a set of 4 rotors for $126 USD. Do you think he'd be able to try and match the price or get them in at a cheaper freight cost when he sources stuff from the US?

There's a couple of other things I'd like to get too and I am wondering if he could get those in or should I just go purchase them myself? Cost of frieght could be a bit of a worry...

Time to upgrade to Grand Am brakes. Rotors are $10 15.00 each US and calipers are about 25. Have them shipped instead.... Some of the clubs offer the turned down hubs.

Just explaining to James in chat that the costs to get USA ones over are astronomical. Hence the local high prices.
